Basements Plus is always striving to stay up to date on the latest and greatest trends of the year for remodeling. While keeping up with the trends we also focus on our homeowners and ensuring that they have the best basement remodeling experience possible.
As 2018 has come to a close and 2019 has just begun, let’s look back and reflect on our basement kitchens/bars and baths we have designed in 2018 and summarize what our most trending materials have been.
Although the all-white kitchen and bath has been the trend in general for the past five or so years, our designers and home owners have leaned more toward the dark side of cabinetry for our basement projects. Our bar and bath packages we provide include a maple wood and a simple, yet bold, cabinet style which have really pleased our homeowners. With this cabinet type and style, the most popular stain we have chosen is the Chocolate color, which is the darkest stain closest to black.
The counter tops that are paired with these dark cabinets had the trend of being a high contrast in our past year here. Both granite and quartz are great selections for our bars and baths, but our home owners loved the wider variety of choices when it came to a quartz top. Quartz offers various styles that can very closely mimic a marble texture, to which our designers advise our home owners to choose if they desire an actual marble top. With this said, the counter tops that have trended most this past year would be Alaskan White quartz, Icefield Quartz, and Snowy River quartz. Although quartz is a great upgrade to our bar and bath tops, our homeowners have also fallen in love with our Ornamental White granite which is a beautiful mixture of beiges, browns, and a touch of maroon which pair very well with our Chocolate cabinetry.
They say gray is the new neutral for wall and flooring choices and that has shown precisely with our wall color selections in 2018. It is always a great choice to land in the neutrals so you have the absolute freedom to accessorize with any other color you want! Sherwin Williams is our paint supplier and the most chosen wall color is Essential Gray and Comfort Gray, which are great choices to invite both warm and cool tones into the space.
