Finished Basements Plus Case Studies: Staircase Remodel Opens Up Entrance in Livonia, MI Basement

Monday, April 3rd, 2017 by Adam Jensen

Initially, this basement staircase faced directly into the foundation wall of the basement. This made the entrance to the basement seem dark and narrow. Working around the multiple support posts near the bottom of the staircase we needed to find a way to open up the entrance to this basement.

Adding a landing to the bottom of the staircase and opening up the wall to add an open rail really helped brighten up this space. The stairs now take a slight turn leading directly into the living space of this basement. This basement staircase now feels much more inviting!
