Novi, MI Modern Basement Design with Painted Ceiling

This project is one of our favorites. The homeowners wanted to have an open floorplan with a warehouse feel, mixed with a modern sleek look. The challenge was to blend the two looks while making it feel like they flow together in the open space. Having low ceilings created a challenge when incorporating the two design styles that the homeowner wanted.

We used the lower ceiling height to achieve the desired design by painting the ceiling black and installing industrial looking electrical fixtures. Keeping an open floorplan was another challenge. We resolved this by enclosing the workout area in glass instead of drywall which allows the space to feel much larger. Overall, this lower level came together beautifully and is exactly what the homeowner wanted!
