Rochester Hills, MI Finished Basement Adds Large Kitchen with Island

Project Gallery

Having the living space open to the kitchen area is great for open communication and entertaining.
Having a large island in the kitchen space allows for extra countertop space as well as extra seating for guests.
Secret doors are great for basements, they give you the ability to hide unfinished portions of the space while offering a fun, unique design element.
Next to the kitchen is a living area that is being used as a ping pong space. These types of spaces can be swapped out depending on your need.
A fitness room was also added behind a pair of french doors to close it off while letting in some natural light.
Opening up the basement to have open flow through the different spaces creates a space that is friendly and inviting.
Archways add a lot to the overall look and feel of the lower level. They create a design feature that is common in an upper level of the home but rare for a basement space. Why not create a lower level that is an extension of the home.

Looking to add entertaining space to their home these homeowners turned to their unfinished basement. Completing the space to be similar to the upper levels of the home was important. Using Vinyl Plank Flooring, Granite countertops, Wood Detail on the Open Rail Staircase, and French Doors into the fitness area gives this space a finished look. Adding a kitchen space that is open to the living room allows for an open concept space which is great for entertaining as everyone can communicate and watch the TV.
