What to Expect Next - After Contacting Basements Plus

You submitted the form. Now what?

Whether you’re looking to finish your basement, waterproof it, repair a foundation concern, or improve a crawl space, our next steps are designed to help you understand your options before making any concrete decisions.

Here’s what you can expect from Basements Plus.

1. Our Team Will Review Your Request

One of our appointment scheduling team members will review the information you submitted & call you to learn a little more about your home and what you’re hoping to accomplish.

This helps us make sure we offer a service to help you and that we send the right Basement Specialist to your appointment.

We may ask about things like:

  • What problems or concerns are you seeing?
  • How do you want to use your space?
  • What you’d like to change?

You don’t need to have every answer figured out before we call. That’s what the consultation is for.

2. You’ll Receive Helpful Information Before Your Appointment

Before your appointment, we’ll send you a packet in the mail with information to help you prepare for your appointment.

It includes helpful resources about our process, what to expect during your consultation, how to compare contractors, and the types of materials and solutions we offer.

We believe homeowners should understand their options before making a major investment in their home.

That’s why our approach has always been simple:

We educate before we ask for your business!

3. A Basement Specialist Will Evaluate Your Space

Your appointment will look a little different depending on the service you’re interested in.

If You’re Considering Basement Finishing
Your Basement Specialist will talk through how you want to use the space and inspect the existing basement.

Tip: If you have inspiration pictures, be sure to show those to your specialist. This will help them in the design and scope of work details.

That can include:

  • Layout and design goals
  • Bedrooms, bathrooms, offices, bars, gyms, or entertainment areas
  • Plumbing and electrical needs
  • Ceiling heights and mechanical systems
  • Existing moisture or foundation concerns
  • Permits and building requirements

Our goal is to understand how you want the basement to look & what needs to happen behind the finished walls to build it correctly.

If You’re Experiencing Water, Foundation, or Crawl Space Problems
Your Basement Specialist will inspect the areas of concern and look for the source of the problem rather than simply treating what’s visible.

Depending on your home, that may include looking at:

  • Basement leaks or moisture
  • Sump pump systems
  • Foundation cracks or movement
  • Bowing or shifting walls
  • Crawl space moisture
  • Humidity and air-quality concerns
  • Drainage around the home

We’ll explain what we find, what we believe is causing it, and what options are available.

4. We’ll Explain the Recommendation and Why

You should never leave a home improvement consultation wondering what was recommended or why. Our team will walk you through the proposed solution, answer your questions, and educate you on the reasoning behind it.

If you’re planning a finished basement, that may include project scope, design options, materials, and next steps for planning the space.

For basement waterproofing, foundation repair, or crawl space work, we’ll explain what we discovered during the consultation and how the recommended system addresses the problem. If there are multiple ways to approach the project, we’ll discuss those too.

5. You’ll Receive Clear Project Information

Before moving forward, you should understand what you’re investing in. We’ll review the scope of work, project recommendations, and pricing with you so you know what’s included.

Basement projects often involve several parts of the home working together, which is why having one company that understands both finishing and foundation issues can make a major difference in how smooth the project goes. No coordinating multiple contractors.
If we find a moisture or foundation concern during a finishing consultation, we can address it before it gets covered by new walls and flooring and remove the chance of basement flooding or water damage.

If waterproofing is the first step toward eventually finishing the basement, we can help you plan with that future goal in mind.
